Rodney E. Kruger ( July 1, 1959 - March 9, 2017 )

Rodney E. Kruger, 57, of Midland, completed his life journey surrounded by his family on Thursday March 9, 2017 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Rodney was born on July 1, 1959 and resided on the Kruger Centennial farm in Midland.

Rod was the glue that kept his family together. He was known for his meticulously groomed garden (if the rows weren’t straight, we would start over…), he always planted extra to provide for those in need, as well as the occasional passerby. He enjoyed the outdoors in every way possible. Rod enjoyed such hobbies as hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Rodney is survived by his Wife of 38 years, Sharon (Young) Kruger, children; Doug Kruger, Scott and (Rachel) Kruger, grandchildren; Cassie, Hunter, Nick, Alex, Tillie, Ben and Sadie, parents Robert and Ginger Kruger, brothers; Robert Kruger and Brian (Marj) Moore, sister Jori Coster, mother in-law Phyllis Young, brother and sister in-laws; Andy (Sheyla) Young, Pat (Chuck) Bass, Cleon Young, Ruth (Bob) Fahlsing, and many nieces and nephews.

Rod was predeceased by his mother and stepfather Marilyn and John Kieffer, sister Cindy (Kruger) Dopp, nephews Brian Coster, Theryn Bass, and father in-law Wayne Young.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 11am at the Gordonville United Methodist Church with Pastor Josh Blanchard officiating. A memorial visitation will be held at the Smith-Miner Funeral Home on Monday evening from 4 until 7pm, and at the church from 10am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
