Ralph M. (Buz) McGivern, 82, of Midland, passed away unexpectedly on November 7, 2017 at MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born in Hillsdale, MI on October 31, 1935 to the late Ralph and Margaret (Roost) McGivern. On January 6, 1957 he married Barbara Ware and they shared 60 wonderful years together.

Ralph served in United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from University of Michigan and a Master of Business from Central Michigan University. He moved his family to Midland in 1963 to apprentice with architect Alden B. Dow now known as Dow Howell Gilmore Associates Incorporated. He retired from Delta Community College in 2001 as an Associate Professor, who was also an Architectural Consultant for them, started their Architectural Program and taught Computer Aided Design. Buz was an avid reader, loved to plan traveling trips to photograph nature with his wife, as well as to spend quality time with family and friends. He was so proud of the passive solar house he designed and built on the Chippewa River in 1980, loving to watch the changing of seasons from his living room.
