Loren Arthur, 89, in the presence of his family, passed away on December 16, 2017 at his winter home in Lakeland FL. He died from complications of Alzheimer's and a series of strokes. He was born on the Arthur farm on M-20 in Midland, MI to the late William Arthur and Bernice (Seely) Arthur.

Loren graduated from Midland High School and was a proud member of the Army’s 45th Infantry division of Oklahoma serving in the Korean War in the Counter Fire, Weapons Detection division until Oct. of 1952. He returned home, worked on the farm and at Dow Chemical Company for 30 years. He was an active member of Homer United Methodist Church and recently remembered he helped put the steeple on the top! He participated in Migrant Ministries outreach, in his early retirement he volunteered as a 'handyman' for social services and he was a charter member of Habitat for Humanity. Loren loved sports especially playing as many softball games as possible and later in life watching Michigan State College basketball!

He met Barbara L (Osborne), the love of his life, while recuperating from a broken leg (playing ball) at Midland Hospital where Barb was a nurse. They were wonderfully married for 62 years. In retirement they enjoyed life in Midland, the cottage on Mullett Lake, wintering in Florida and the last 2.5 years in an Assisted Living in Ypsilanti near daughter Lori and her family.

Loren is survived by his wife Barbara, his brother Rev. Joy E Arthur (Midland, MI), 3 daughters; Denise (Canton, MA), Lori (Ypsilanti, MI), Kenda (Rogers, MN). Loren loved to pieces his grandchildren and they loved him back! Kenda (Cambridge, MA), Ale (Easton, MA), Loren (Chelsea, MI), Gerick (Minneapolis, MN), Claire (Ypsilanti, MI), Lowell (Augusta, MO) Chandler (Leadville, CO).
