Kathron M. Guyott ( July 9, 1924 - January 19, 2018 )

Kathron M. Guyott, age 93, passed peacefully on January 19, 2018 at Emerald Meadows Assisted Living in Grand Rapids Michigan. She was born on July 9th, 1924 in Grand Rapids Michigan to Wallace and Anna Eldred. The family moved to Saginaw Michigan in the early 1940s. Kathron graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw Michigan.

Kathron pursued a career in teaching. She graduated college with a bachelor degree from Central Michigan University and a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. Kathron taught first grade for 36 ½ years of which 20 plus years of teaching first grade was in the Midland Public-School System at Chestnut Hill Elementary. In her life time Kathron taught over 2,000 children how to read. She was also a curriculum teacher for CMU. She is one of the oldest members of Delta Kappa Gama (teaching sorority) in Michigan with over 62 years as a member.

After retiring from teaching, Kathron was a yellow lady at the Midland Hospital for several years until she moved to Morrison Lake, Saranac Michigan to be close to her daughter’s family and take care of her beloved grandson Colin. In her retirement she traveled the world.

Kathron was married. First to Glen Anschuetz, and lastly to Thomas Guyott. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husbands, sister, brother in-law and brother, sister in-law and two nephews. She is survived by daughter Carol Lomas (Dan Lomas) of Saranac Michigan and step daughter Kathy Rakowski (Gary Rakowski) of Midland Michigan. Also remaining are 4 grandchildren Colin Lomas of Saranac Michigan, Heidi and Richard Harnois of Midland, and Holly Strassburger of Gurnee Illinois. She has 4 great grandchildren Hope Harnois, Jake Harnois, Hannah Strassburger and Olivia Strassburger, all of whom brought her immense joy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at the Chapel at Roselawn Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2018. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Faith Hospice. Online condolences may be left at smithminer.com.
