Robert E. Schlosser ( March 4, 1938 - August 3, 2018 )

Robert E. Schlosser, 80, of Midland, went home to be with the Jesus he adored on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Toni & Trish House. He was born on March 4, 1938 to Harold and Kathryn (Potts) Schlosser. On January 2, 1960 he married Barbara Miner and they had 58 wonderful years together.

Robert served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Midland City Police Officer, retiring on April 9, 1989. While working for the police force he was awarded the Gerstacker Award for Police Officer of the year. Bob loved his job and he loved the people of Midland that he served. Bob was a member of the Midland County Sportsman Club and Midland Police Pistol Team where he took the Chief’s trophy. Bob owned and operated the King’s Kids French Fry Barn which is now known as the Red Barn Fries. He was an outstanding marksman, avid hunter and fisherman. Bob also spent several years as an umpire for the Little League and girl’s softball leagues Bob’s favorite place to be after retirement was in the Florida Keys, travelling in his motor home, and his favorite thing to do was tell people about the love of Jesus.

Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Jennifer (Glen) Joseph of Sanford, MI, Douglas (Sherry) Schlosser of Midland, MI, Robert (Patricia) Schlosser of Yorktown, VA, Julie Podboy of Midland, MI, Gerald “Jerry” (Tami) Schlosser of Sanford, MI, Scott (Lisa) Schlosser of Beaverton, MI, 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Kathryn Schlosser and brother Harold “Ted” (Vonda) Schlosser. Robert was predeceased by his father, Harold C. “Ted” Schlosser.

The family would like to thank the 5200 unit staff at MidMichigan Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Robert. They treated him like a favorite grandpa. They would also like to thank Toni & Trish for the tremendous care they gave not only Robert, but our entire family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Christian Celebration Center with Rev. Mitzi Nimmo and Rev. Dean Grabill officiating. Friends may visit with the family at church from 10 am until the time of service.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Toni & Trish House or Mid-Michigan Alzheimer’s Association.
