Donald Karl Reisig ( March 28, 1937 - October 11, 2016 )

Donald Karl Reisig, 79, passed away after a long, courageous battle with diabetic vascular disease and dementia at home with his loving family at his side on October 11, 2016. He was born the 1st son of six boys to Karl and Maxine (Putnam) Reisig in Saginaw, MI on March 28, 1937.

Don graduated from Midland High School in June 1955. He was active in the U.S. Navy Reserve until he joined the U.S. Army in July 1955. Don received an Honorable Discharge from the 3rd Armored Division as SP4 in July 1957. After his service time, he married his high school sweetheart Marjorie (Midge) Cadman on September 28, 1957. They celebrated 59 years as husband and wife.

He worked as a carpenter/laborer in Saginaw for six years and in 1963 went to work for
the Midland Public School System. He retired from the maintenance department of MPS
in 1994. Don was a very active carpenter, electrician and plumber. He enjoyed wood
working in his garage and built many beautiful pieces of furniture, not only for his home
but also for his three daughter's homes. He built his first home in Hemlock, and he and
Midge lived there for thirteen years to be near his Mother to assist in the care of his Dad
who had ALS. After that they moved to Midland and resided there until his death.

Don is survived by his wife, Midge and two daughters, Shonda Reisig of Holland, MI and
Lori Kelly of Nashville, TN., three brothers, Gary Reisig, Alan Reisig, and Gene (Cindy)
Reisig, a son-in-law Steve Lager and sister-in-laws Janet Reisig and Janis' Archer. He
leaves seven grandchildren, Melissa (Polo) Zavala, Stacy Kuchek, Jacob Scholten, Jenna
Vargo, Jasmine, Maleah and William Kelly, and six great-grandchildren who will miss their grandpa and grandpa-great very much, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, a beloved daughter Kimberly Reisig-Lager, two brothers, Leland and Kenneth Reisig, sister-in-law Linda Reisig, brother-in-law Terry Slabic and young niece Kari Lynn Reisig.

Don spent the last two years of his life at Medilodge of Midland. We wish to thank all
the Doctors, Nurses, therapists and Nurse-Aides that cared for him with love and patience, as well as Mid-Michigan Hospice who provided end of life care.

As per Don's wishes, he has been cremated. A memorial of his life will be celebrated
Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation with the
family will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until time of the service. A light lunch
will be served at St. John's following the memorial. A private burial will be held at
Midland Cemetery.

Memorials in Don's memory may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Medilodge of Midland.
