Al (Panoke) Prewozniak ( April 2, 1936 - October 26, 2016 )

Al Prewozniak, 80, died peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, October 26th. He was born on April 2, 1936 to the late Peter and Leokadia (Pawlak) Prewozniak. He married the love of his life, Kay Westerdahl on August 20, 1955 at St. Brigid Catholic Church. She predeceased him in May of 2015.

Al attended St. Brigid’s Catholic School and graduated from Midland High School in 1954. Al started working at Dow Chemical in September of 1955. In 1987 after 32 years he retired from Dow as a Master Craftsman (49er.) After retiring from Dow he worked for the Midland Public Schools on the grounds crew. Al loved this because it was all about sports. Al had a passion for fishing and spending time with his family who meant the world to him. He will be remembered for his many stories, riddles, his laughter and outgoing personality.

Al is survived by his children, Becky (Doug) Hoover, Joe (fiancé Holly Cooper) Prewozniak, Sue (Bennie) Deitch ,Paul (Genniver) Prewozniak, Dennis (Jamie) Prewozniak; 14 grandchildren: 15 great grandchildren; sister Margaret Wejrowski, Virginia (Dominic) Dzurka; Chris and Marc Daniels who were like a brother and sister to him; Many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, his brother John (Barb) Prewozniak preceded him in death.

A Memorial Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at St. Brigid of Kildare with Fr. Patrick O’Connor officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home from 4-7 pm and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
